ABOUT US
Peter & Brenda Carpenter Alden Cottage was initially our family home and, having always wanted to run a Bed & Breakfast, we took the opportunity to offer guest accommodation in 1993 when Peter retired from his career as a Quality Manager. Having spent a combined 60 years in the food and hospitality industry between us, we wanted Alden Cottage Bed & Breakfast to be the best accommodation in the area and to exceed our guests' expectations in all standards of comfort and service. We began by making some building improvements for guests and were thrilled to be winners of a Ribble Valley Civic Design & Conservation Award. We were even more delighted when, after our initial opening, we were accredited a 4 Star Bed & Breakfast rating from VisitBritain (formerly the English Tourism Council) which was later followed by us being the first guest accommodation in the area to be granted a Silver Award for exceptional quality and service. In recent years we have added a further six Bed & Breakfast Gold Awards and in 2009 we also received a VisitBritain/Kellogg's Breakfast Award for the delicious selection of B&B breakfasts we offer. In 2000, we converted part of Alden Cottage into Self Catering holiday accommodation ideal for couples and are proud of having achieved another VisitBritain Gold Award and 4 Star rating. We pride ourselves on our attention to detail in making your stay one of the finest accommodation experiences and are delighted that so many of our guests have chosen to return to Alden Cottage again and again (some as many as 30 times!).
